The weather is warming up and that brings thoughts of SUMMER! Because of the sudden warm-up, our litter ice cleanup event will now be held on Sunday, March 2, 2025 starting at 1 pm. We need volunteers! The good winter ice conditions brought a huge number of fisherman and recreation to North and South Center. With the increase of use comes an increase of litter. Litter that is on the ice makes it's way to the lake bed.
Bum around on a snowmobile or ATV/OHV with other CLA volunteers. We will be traveling around North and South Center, removing any litter or fish house debris. Recent state law changes clarify that no waste should be left outside of a fish house. In addition, leaving dimensional lumber, cement block, or any other man-made objects frozen onto the surface is illegal. However, recent scouting by our volunteers have revealed there is work to do! We will provide trash bags. You provide your transportation and appropriate clothing, including ice cleats/yak-trax.
We will meet at the public water access on North Center. We will then split into groups and head out to the major fishing areas for litter cleanup. If you can help, email us at info@centerlakes.org or reach out to any board member. We will keep you informed of any changes due to weather.
